Adrià SalaandClaude Opus 4.6 bbda905e00 fix: eliminate race condition in awxkit gateway user sync (#16658)
fix: eliminate race condition in gateway user sync

poll_until confirms the user exists in controller after gateway
creation, but a second GET call could return empty results under
load. Return the user directly from poll_until instead.

Adrià SalaandClaude Opus 4.6 94333d005e fix: awxkit controller_dir support for containerized installs (#16647)
The controller_dir property hardcoded /tmp/awx_{id} as the expected
volume mount prefix. On containerized installs the job execution
directory is at /home/ansible/aap/controller/data/job_execution/awx_{id},
causing a RuntimeError when the prefix didn't match.

Changed to exact path component matching on the awx_{id} segment,
which works for both traditional and containerized path layouts
while preventing false matches (e.g. awx_1 matching awx_10).

Adrià SalaandClaude Opus 4.6 06c07edc6f fix: awxkit user creation race condition with gateway sync (#16646)
After creating a user on the gateway API, the code immediately queries
the controller API to find the synced user. On containerized installs
(2.6+), the gateway-to-controller sync may not have completed yet,
causing an IndexError when .results.pop() is called on an empty list.

This affected ~32 tests across the tower-qa legacy suite on every
containerized pipeline run (2.6, 2.7, 2.8).

Dirk JulichandClaude Opus 4.6 4b73e1264b AAP-85334: Replace Black + Flake8 with Ruff
Migrate Python linting and formatting toolchain from Black (formatter)
and Flake8 (linter) to Ruff, which provides both in a single tool.

- pyproject.toml: remove [tool.black], add [tool.ruff] config sections
- tox.ini: replace black+flake8 deps/commands with ruff in linters env
- awxkit/tox.ini: replace flake8 with ruff in lint env
- Makefile: replace `black` target with `format` + `lint`, keep `black`
as legacy alias, update `check` and `api-lint`
- pre-commit.sh: use `ruff format --check`, honor AWX_IGNORE_RUFF
- requirements_dev.txt: swap black/flake8 for ruff
- Dockerfile.j2: install ruff instead of black
- CONTRIBUTING.md: update tool references
- Fix noqa comments to use # separator instead of ; (ruff requirement)
- Add noqa: F841 for false positive in awxkit/cli/__init__.py

Lila YasinandClaude Opus 4.6 6d665dda33 Fix awxkit tox test failure caused by root pytest.ini config bleed (#16520)
Forward-port of ansible/tower#7537 for the devel branch.

When running awxkit's tox tests, pytest picks up the root pytest.ini
which pulls in pytest-django options (--reuse-db, --nomigrations,
DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE) and Django-specific filterwarnings. Since the
awxkit tox environment does not install Django or pytest-django, these
cause test collection to fail.

The root cause is that pytest.ini has absolute priority in pytest's
config discovery — it searches all ancestor directories for pytest.ini
before falling back to tox.ini's [pytest] section. A [pytest] section
in awxkit/tox.ini alone cannot prevent the root config from being used.

Fix by:
- Adding awxkit/pytest.ini to act as the primary config boundary
(pytest.ini has the highest priority in config discovery, so its
presence in awxkit/ stops the upward search before reaching root)
- Adding explicit `test` path argument to the pytest command in
awxkit/tox.ini so pytest discovers tests correctly
- Adding `testpaths` and `python_files` to the [pytest] section in
awxkit/tox.ini as a secondary config boundary
- Adding awxkit/conftest.py that registers the Django-specific CLI
options and INI keys as harmless no-ops, as a further safety net

AAP-74276: Replace setuptools with packaging in awxkit install_requires

The Python 3.12 upgrade replaced distutils.version.LooseVersion with
packaging.version.Version but did not update awxkit's install_requires.
setuptools is no longer needed at runtime since pkg_resources was also
replaced with importlib.metadata. This causes ModuleNotFoundError on
standalone CLI installs where packaging is not present.

Rodrigo Toshiaki HorieandClaude Opus 4.6 679e48cbe8 [AAP-68258] Fix SonarCloud Reliability issues (#16354)
* Fix SonarCloud Reliability issues: time-dependent class attrs and dict comprehensions

- Move last_stats/last_flush from class body to __init__ in CallbackBrokerWorker
(S8434: time-dependent expressions evaluated at class definition)
- Replace dict comprehensions with dict.fromkeys() in has_create.py
(S7519: constant-value dict should use fromkeys)

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix callback receiver tests to use flush(force=True)

Tests were implicitly relying on last_flush being a stale class-level
timestamp. Now that last_flush is set in __init__, the time-based flush
condition isn't met when flush() is called immediately after construction.
Use force=True to explicitly trigger an immediate flush in tests.

Seth FosterandClaude Opus 4.6 9700fb01f2 Fix awx CLI modify command for users with object-level permissions (#16276)
The awx CLI derives available fields for the `modify` command from
the list endpoint's POST action schema. Users with object-level
admin permissions (e.g., Project Admin) but no list-level POST
permission see no field flags, making modify unusable despite having
PUT access on the detail endpoint.

Fall back to the detail endpoint's action schema when POST is not
available on the list endpoint, and prefer PUT over POST when
building modify arguments.

Sviatoslav Sydorenko d8e87da898 🧪 Make pytest notify us about future warnings
In essence, this configures Python to turn any warnings emitted in
runtime into errors[[1]]. This is the best practice that allows
reacting to future deprecation announcements that are coming from the
dependencies (direct, or transitive, or even CPython itself)[[2]].

The typical workflow looks like this:

  1. If a dependency is updated an a warning is hit in tests, the
deprecated thing should be replaced with newer APIs.

  2. If a dependency is transitive or we have no control over it
otherwise, the specific warning and a regex matching its message,
plus the module reference (where possible) can be added to the
list of temporary ignores in `pytest.ini`.

  3. The list of temporary ignores should be reevaluated periodically,
including when dependency re-pinning in lockfile is happening.

Ethem Cem Özkan 37ad690d09 Add AWS SNS notification support for webhook (#15184)
Support for AWS SNS notifications. SNS is a widespread service that is used to integrate with other AWS services(EG lambdas). This support would unlock use cases like triggering lambda functions, especially when AWX is deployed on EKS.

Decisions:

Data Structure
- I preferred using the same structure as Webhook for message body data because it contains all job details. For now, I directly linked to Webhook to avoid duplication, but I am open to suggestions.

AWS authentication
- To support non-AWS native environments, I added configuration options for AWS secret key, ID, and session tokens. When entered, these values are supplied to the underlining boto3 SNS client. If not entered, it falls back to the default authentication chain to support the native AWS environment. Properly configured EKS pods are created with temporary credentials that the default authentication chain can pick automatically.
